Profile

Jesper Markvart’s main area of expertise is competition law, including Danish and international cartel cases. He assists with legal advice at inspection visits of the authorities, settlement negotiations with the authorities and litigation before the courts of general jurisdiction as well as proceedings at the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority or the State Prosecutor for Serious Economic and International Crime (SØIK). Jesper also assists in action for damages in which one or more companies have suffered a loss as a result of a violation of the competition law.

Jesper regularly advises Danish and international companies on the conclusion and the assessment of vertical agreements, including selective and exclusive distribution as well as horizontal agreements, such as specialisation agreements, research and development agreements and agreements of joint purchase and sale.

Furthermore, Jesper Markvart provides advice to both dominating companies as well as the victims of the dominating companies regarding on their price terms, discounts and refusal of delivery.

Moreover, he assists companies with the preparation of compliance programs to proactively ensure that the company avoids any problems concerning competition law in the future as well as providing advice regarding the competitive conditions in connection with purchase and sale of companies.

Finally, Jesper Markvart advises public authorities and private companies on granting and receiving state aid and municipality aid and in connection with investigations and complaints. Furthermore, Jesper advises complainants, who experience hardship if their competitor receives aid.
